Intelligence operations provide players with opportuniites to discover Reticle Cold War secrets, develop their reputation and experience with NPCs and much more.

A Typical Intelligence Session​

1. Check for available intercepts

  • Numbers Broadcasts appear on irregular schedules
  • SIGINT opportunities have probability-based availability
  • After-Action Cases arrive based on previous missions

2. Select based on your skills and time

  • Match difficulty to your abilities
  • Consider time limits (15 min to 2 hours depending on type)
  • Higher difficulty = higher rewards

3. Complete the challenge

  • Ciphers require pattern recognition and analytical thinking
  • Agent communications test social and faction relations skills
  • Each success builds toward your intelligence reputation

4. Apply your intelligence

  • Use gathered intel to inform mission choices
  • Share information to build faction standing
  • Connect dots that others miss

Decryption methods vary:

  • Substitution ciphers (letter/number replacement)
  • Pattern-based encoding
  • Reference ciphers (requiring location knowledge)
  • Multi-layer encryption (harder broadcasts)

Example Decryption Flow​

  1. Listen to the Broadcast — Understand the patterns in the audio
  2. Get Hints — Get decryption hints from the system
  3. Decode — Work to decode the broadcast -- the In-game cryptography guide can be very helpful
  4. Input Solution — Input your decoded broadcast into the interface
  5. Get Reward — Input your personal tone sequence, which you'll receive after successfullly decoding the braodcast for a special intelligenc briefing and your rewards

Agent-Led Live Missions​

You will engage with AI-agent NPCs who will provide you with special challenging 'live missions. Learn more about them here

After-Action Cases​

After Action Case

Completed missions often generate follow-up situations requiring your attention.

Case Types​

  • Loose ends — Unresolved elements from previous operations
  • Consequences — Results of your choices playing out
  • Opportunities — New paths opened by your actions
  • Requests — NPCs following up based on your reputation

Response Windows​

After-Action Cases have time limits:

  • Urgent: 4-8 hours
  • Standard: 24-48 hours
  • Extended: Up to 7 days

Missing a window closes that path—though it may create other consequences.

Time-Flexible or Constrained Intelligence​

SIGINT — Decrypt signals intelligence before time runs out. Command operatives in specific locations. Mission results are delivered within hours or days.

After-Action Cases — Response time frames vary. If responses are not sent in time, they can be handled automatically by Idina, but may not lead to optimal results.
